Donors

Our work, to support education in Afghanistan, is 100% dependent on our donors and their generosity.

Afghani girls and teacher thank National Geographic for generously supporting Ayni Education International.

We are grateful for all of their support and generosity. Our support comes from a wide and engaged donor base. Most of our donors are individuals. Our major donors, including National Geographic, Janet W. Ketcham Foundation, The Paul Allen Family Foundation and numerous family foundations and rotary clubs provide the pivotal large gifts that help us take on major projects such as the construction of a new school or the piloting of regional teacher training centers.  Ayni also thanks the law firm of Ryan, Swanson & Cleveland for its generous donation of paper supplies and printing services.

Financial Integrity

Ayni’s finances in the U.S. and Afghanistan are closely monitored by our Board. The level of transparency and accountability that we require allows us to continuously monitor our expenditures both in Afghanistan and the U.S. Our implementing partners in Afghanistan provide us with detailed financial records and receipts for every project that Ayni funds. We can assure our donors that your funds are effectively used and carefully monitored.

Janet W. Ketcham has an unmatched drive to provide help for those in need, and the courage to build hope in a place that was struggling to find it. A story defined by dedication and conviction, Janet’s involvement in Afghanistan has spanned over three decades and across the country, and is now partnered with Ayni in Northern Afghanistan to create opportunities for women and girls to get an education. She has traveled to Afghanistan several times, and with each visit she made a strong connection with the people and culture. These experiences inspired her vision for building a better future through education. The lack of facilities, opportunity, and funding to provide a proper education continues to keep women and children in poverty. In 2011, together with Ayni and our partners at the Afghanistan American Friendship Foundation, a school for 3,000 girls was opened in Mazar-i-Sharif. Ten years ago, young girls and women from this region were not allowed the opportunity to get an education.

We are happy to announce that Janet continues to support and transform the lives of women and girls in Northern Afghanistan and is planning a new school that will be able to provide another 3,000 girls the opportunity to receive an education. Janet’s generosity and commitment to humanitarian work is truly inspiring to all of us here at Ayni. We hope to continue to build lasting peace together for women and girls in Afghanistan.
